PLANTING PLACE
Plant the tubers in warm, well-drained soil. Dahlias do not like shady areas. Plant in a sunny position in fertilised and loose soil. Dahlias are usually planted in a row as a fence. Depending on their growth, dahlias are planted 0,8-1 metres apart. Dahlias are planted outdoors at the end of April or in May after the weather has warmed up. They will flower earlier if planted in pots in April and kept in a warm room or greenhouse.
SEE
Dahlias are low maintenance. They start flowering in June and continue flowering until late autumn. Larger flowers will grow if the dahlias are pruned. Once the stems have emerged, 3-5 stems are left on the bush for further growth. Dahlias should be watered abundantly in summer, daily in hot weather and less frequently in late summer.
WINTERING
Dahlias should be dug up before the autumn frosts and stored in the cellar over the winter.
